More of Brooklyn and Williamsburg Bridge

In the photo below, in the middle, above the bridge, would have been the Twin Towers.  I still miss them.  One used to exit the subway, and just orient oneself on the Twin Towers.  Oh, if they're in this direction, I'll have to go that way - like that.  Of course that's not the only reason, just one - and one cannot be in NYC without thinking of 911.
Since I took so many photos on Sunday, and a lot of them I took specifically to share, I am unabashedly showing more of our great Sunday.  Above is the view of the park under the Brooklyn Bridge, a bride, which we also saw with her groom close-up.

Aren't they gorgeous?  Almost pretty enough to pose for an advertisement.
The Brooklyn Bridge from the Williamsburg Bridge, and below a close-up of the Williamsburg.  My brother, who is a steel welder by profession, thought the Williamsburg Bridge a work of art.

Brooklyn Bridge

We walked the Brooklyn Bridge today.  My friend Sherri and her husband Steve and I.  We started out down by the South Street Seaport, where going is tough, cobblestone streets, and a smoker in the window.

Big new sky scraper at Pace University and then we are on the bridge.  Tons of walkers, a walk for Juvenile Diabetes is going on, and the walkway is filled from side to side, not even room for the bicycles.

We made our way up, and here are more photos:

anyone?  Ready to crotchet a bicycle cover?
Lucky, we ran into a bride and groom - what  a great spot for a picture!
The Williamsburg Bridge, which we walked back to Manhattan.  Lots of walking today!
The park under the Brooklyn Bridge, such a great spot.

And the view of the Brooklyn Bridge from the Williamsburg Bridge - I wish you all could have come with us!

The city

Waiting to be picked up.  Yeah, going into the city for the first time in what seems like forever.
Yes, I have my camera, and yes, I'll upload when I get home.
See you later!

Fall Day

Today's loveliness more than made up for yesterday's crappy, crappy day.  The weather was perfect.  No other word for it - perfect.  The sky the bluest blue, when I looked up I could even see the colors on the planes flying far enough overhead to be barely heard.  The light and sunshine - just perfect, and you are just happy to be in it.

I went to a neighboring town, there was a town wide garage sale (nothing good, really), and I parked the car and just walked the neighborhood.
Lovely day for that walk.  I got my steps in, saw some really nice neighborhoods/houses, and really didn't spend any money.
It's now a little past 5 PM, and I'm headed out to see about finishing my bathroom.  I need to find something to change the pink tile left over to the white which dominates the rest of the bathroom.  I'm so totally not sure what to do, so I better go and inform myself.

Wet, wet, Nicole

Nicole is the name of the storm that's dumping rain, rain, and more rain on the East Coast.  While I have nothing against rain, it's not miserable in the sense of cold.  Yes, still an adventure.    I love rainy days, makes the sunny days less boring, I am not a friend of rain in the building I'm in.  And yes, we have rain.  The roof leaks.  And there is an artwork of plastic planes strung under the roof, with buckets and hoses that lead the rain back outside.  And still it comes in in unsuspected corners.  Why is the roof not fixed?  Well, first it's not my roof, it's huge, it's ancient, and if you fix it in one spot, the water finds a different way in.
The roof is being worked on in bits and pieces, and hopefully it'll be less leaky soon.

Thank heavens it's still warm - t-shirt and sandals still - and not cold.

And I just had to show this machine - waiting for orders.
(and no, no clue what it's intended use)
